Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before starting your homeschool journey with us.

Isla & Psalm was created by Justyna — a New Jersey-licensed teacher, homeschool mom, and someone who has learned firsthand that life is too short to have our priorities in the wrong order.

After years teaching high school science, Justyna saw a system built around test scores, benchmarks, and keeping up — not around the things that actually matter. When she lost her father last summer, everything came into focus. We spend so much of our lives chasing money, careers, and things, and not nearly enough time with our families, in our faith, and building the character of our children.

Isla & Psalm was born from that clarity. It's a curriculum built for families who want something different — not a race to the top, but a slow, intentional education rooted in God, character, and the people right in front of you.

Justyna built the curriculum she wished existed for her daughter Isla — and now she's sharing it with yours.
Current offerings are designed for Kindergarten and early childhood (Pre-K through 2nd grade). The Math and Literacy curricula are built for Kindergarten, with activities adaptable for Pre-K and early elementary. The Bible curriculum is designed for Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Isla & Psalm's long-term mission is to build a full K–12 curriculum.
The Math and Literacy curricula are faith-rooted, meaning they occasionally connect learning to God's creation and Christian values, but they are designed to work for any family seeking intentional, whole-child education. The Bible Curriculum is explicitly Christian and is offered as a standalone supplement. Families of any background are welcome.
Isla & Psalm is built around slow, whole-child learning — prioritizing curiosity, character, and real understanding over memorization and test prep. Lessons are hands-on, low-prep, nature-inspired, and rooted in educational psychology and child development. There are two learning pathways (Foundation and Flourishing) so the curriculum meets your child where they are. It's also designed specifically for busy moms — no Pinterest-perfect setups required.
Very little. The curriculum is designed for real family life — lessons are low-prep and use everyday materials you likely already have at home. Each lesson includes clear parent guidance so you can open and go without spending hours planning.

Download the free Kindergarten Readiness Guides (available separately for Math and Literacy) in the store. They walk you through foundational milestones with a simple parent-friendly checklist and help you understand where your child is starting — without pressure or formal testing. At Isla & Psalm, readiness is about understanding your child, not meeting a benchmark.
Each curriculum includes two learning pathways so you can meet your child where they are. The Foundation pathway is for children who are just beginning to build a skill. The Flourishing pathway is for children who are ready for a bit more challenge. You can move between pathways at any time — the curriculum is designed to grow with your child.
No. Lessons are built around everyday household materials, nature walks, and simple hands-on activities. The goal is to make learning feel natural and low-pressure, not to require a special supply list or elaborate setup.
The Flourishing Journal is a companion for parents, not children. It includes prayer pages, reflection prompts, Scripture, and space to document your family's homeschool journey. It's designed to support you spiritually and emotionally as you walk alongside your child's formation — because homeschooling is discipleship work, not just academics.
Yes. 10% of all Early Childhood Bible Curriculum profits are donated to the Tim Tebow Foundation, which works to bring faith, hope, and love to children around the world — including efforts to end child trafficking. Every Bible Curriculum purchase directly contributes to this mission.
Isla & Psalm is building toward a complete K–12 curriculum rooted in academic excellence, whole-child development, and faith formation. The goal is to support families through every stage of their child's education — from kindergarten foundations to high school mastery — so that homeschooling can be a legacy, not just a phase.
